Limbe Muslim Jaamat to Distribute Food Relief Items to 11,000 Households During Ramadan

The Limbe Muslim Jaamat, a charitable Muslim grouping, has disclosed plans to reach out to eleven thousand households with food relief items during this month of Ramadan.

Spokesperson for the grouping, Ibrahim Omar, shared the development with Zodiak, explaining that the initiative aims to encourage not only Muslims in the country but Malawians in general to embrace charity as a way of life.

He made the remarks on Sunday when the Muslim charity donated food items to 11,000 households in Chiradzulu district as part of marking the beginning of the Islamic holy month of Ramadan.

“We also take this opportunity to appeal to Muslims in the country to take advantage of this year’s month of Ramadan to pray for some socio-economic challenges rocking the country, mainly hunger and the deteriorating economy,” said Omar.

Freeda Chilungo, who hails from the area of Group Village Headman Nsaka, Traditional Authority Mpama, in Chiradzulu district, praised the Limbe Muslim Jaamat for the initiative, saying it came at a time when she is struggling to feed her family as an elderly, disabled parent.

Some of the food items which the Limbe Muslim Jaamat has donated include a 10-kilogram bag of maize flour, a packet of sugar, soya pieces, and beans, among others.

The Limbe Muslim Jaamat intends to reach out to eleven thousand households in some districts in the Southern region with the relief food during this month of Ramadan.

Ramadan is a period during which Muslims across the globe refrain from food between dawn and sunset in dedication to increased worship, religious reflection, and charity.

This year’s Ramadan is expected to run from March 1st until the end of this month.
