The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has unveiled the official schedule for the 2025/26 interclub competitions and Mighty Wanderers and Silver Strikers are gearing up to return on the continental stage.
According to CAF’s announcement, the new season kicks off in September. The first leg of the preliminary round will take place between September 19 and 21, with the return fixtures set for September 26 to 28.
Silver Strikers earned their ticket to the CAF Champions League after clinching the 2024 TNM Super League title. Meanwhile, Mighty Wanderers will represent Malawi in the CAF Confederation Cup having lifted the Castel Challenge Cup.
Should both clubs advance, they’ll head into the second preliminary round in October. First-leg ties are scheduled for October 17-19, with the second legs penciled in for October 24-26.
CAF has also opened the squad registration window from August 1 to August 31, giving both clubs around a month to finalise their rosters.
This will be Mighty Wanderers' first appearance on the CAF stage since 2018, when they suffered a heavy 6-1 defeat to DR Congo’s Vita Club. Silver Strikers last competed in CAF Confederations Cup in 2019.
One issue Silver Strikers might need to tackle quickly is on the technical bench. Their Head Coach, Peter Mgangira, currently lacks the mandatory CAF A license, a requirement for participation in the tournament.
