A non-governmental organisation that, among others, supports vulnerable women and children, Family Wellbeing Foundation has called on both individuals and institutions to show humanity by supporting the less privileged in society, especially during this festive period.
The foundation's country director Humphreys Mponela says during the festive season, the less privileged including those with disabilities and the elderly need love and hope hence the call.
He made the remarks in Chitedze in Lilongwe when the foundation, through its Golden Hearts Christmas Project, hosted a luncheon and donated 50 Christmas hampers including three wheelchairs, to the elderly and people with disabilities in the area.
"The funds were raised through partnerships and support from well-wishers, with Diaspora Insurance UK generously sponsoring the Foundation with one thousand Pounds which enabled us to carry out the Golden Hearts Christmas Project," said Mponela.
One of the recipients, a young girl with a disability, who prior to a donation of a wheel chair, was being carried on her grandmother’s back every day to and back from school, thanked the Foundation for the support, saying she will now be able to go back to school.
