E-Ticketing System Boosts Revenue Collection in Thyolo Markets

Thyolo District Commissioner, Noel Dakamau, has hailed the introduction of the e-ticketing system in local markets, citing its effectiveness in increasing revenue collection and enhancing efficiency.

"The e-ticketing system is a game-changer, it has increased revenue collections, enhanced efficiency, and also gives trust to vendors," Dakamau said during an inspection tour of the Thyolo main market.

The system, launched two weeks ago, aims to streamline revenue collection and provide a transparent and accountable process.

Dakamau expressed his desire to expand the system to all other markets in the district, including Bvumbwe and Goliati.

"We want to get resources to procure more gadgets to be put in all the markets in the district," he said.

He added, "we are optimistic that the system will continue to improve revenue collection and contribute to the district's development".

Sandram Namalokolo, a revenue collector at the market, emphasized the importance of sensitizing vendors on the benefits of using the system.

"We are sensitising the vendors to understand the importance of paying revenue through the system," Namalokolo said.

The introduction of the e-ticketing system aligns with President Peter Mutharika's directive to government institutions to adopt digital systems to enhance efficiency.
