Executive Member of the Southern Region Football Association, Charles Mankhwala, has donated footballs worth over K500,000 to the Thyolo District Council in a bid to promote local football development.

Mankhwala said he hopes the balls will be distributed to primary schools and local teams as part of his contribution to nurturing young football talent in the district.

The former Thyolo District Football Association Chairperson added that the donation aligns with the Football Association of Malawi (FAM) leadership’s vision to develop the sport from the grassroots level.

He made the remarks after presenting the balls to Thyolo District Commissioner Hudson Kuphanga on Thursday.

In his remarks, Kuphanga commended Mankhwala for the gesture, saying it will benefit many schools that lack sporting equipment and help keep young people active.

“Many youths are idle, and with this donation, they will have an opportunity to engage in sporting activities and enhance their physical fitness,” said Kuphanga.
