In a highly anticipated FDH Bank Cup quarterfinal clash at the Nankhaka Ground in Lilongwe, Silver Strikers delivered a commanding performance to dethrone the defending champions, Blue Eagles, with a resounding 3-0 victory.
The all-Lilongwe affair at the Nankhaka Ground saw the visitors from Area 47 execute a resilient and controlled performance to outclass their city rivals .
The match began with the hosts applying early pressure, forcing a corner within just two minutes, but Silver Strikers gradually settled into the game .

Silver Strikers sealed their dominance with a second goal in the 57th minute; Ernest Petro demonstrated brilliant awareness, lobbing the ball over the advancing goalkeeper Elias Missi after a quick counter-attack.
Just as the Eagles hoped to find a consolation goal, Emmanuel Allan put the result beyond any doubt, netting a third goal in added time to complete the 3-0 scoreline .
The victory was a sweet revenge for Silver Strikers, who had been knocked out of the previous edition of the FDH Bank Cup by the same opponents.
The match was fiercely contested, described as being "full of tempers and crude tackles" with the referee visibly struggling to maintain control .
In the aftermath, Silver Strikers coach Peter Mgangira acknowledged the challenge, stating, "Despite the win, it was a tough game."
He commended his players, saying, "I must commend the boys for putting up a good fight. We managed to utilise the chances that we created and that has made the difference.”
On the opposing side, Blue Eagles coach Deklerk Msalakuwona could only describe the heavy loss on home turf as "painful".
