The Reserve Bank of Malawi (RBM) says there are no immediate plans to devalue the Malawi Kwacha, a statement that puts to bed fears from the citizenry following the recent general election that ushered the new Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) government.

Newly appointed Deputy Inspector General of Police responsible for operations, Stain Chaima, has warned that “the honeymoon is over for criminals in the country,” saying the police will step up operations to ensure Malawi remains safe.

President Peter Mutharika has called on political leaders in Seychelles and their supporters to exercise restraint, remain calm, and respect the will of the people as the country conducts its second round of elections to elect a president starting today.
