Chipembere Community Development Organisation (CCDO) has distributed learning materials to 84 needy learners and students in Thyolo district.
The support, courtesy of Mundo Cooperante through the Right to Be a Girl Project, included exercise books, writing pens, mathematical instruments, and scientific calculators.
"To help address challenges faced by learners, we are providing essential materials to support their education," said Victor Mnoniwa, Monitoring and Evaluation Officer at CCDO.
Yankho Lisa, a Form Three student at Chiriza Community Day Secondary School, expressed gratitude: "I have been struggling to stay in school due to financial challenges faced by my family. This support is a big relief."
Zione Maseko, Headteacher at Chisawani Primary School, highlighted the importance of such initiatives: "Despite primary education being free, many learners lack school materials, leading to low turnout and increased risk of dropout."
The project aims to support 200 primary and 20 secondary learners in Thyolo and Mulanje districts, providing essential materials and promoting girls' education and rights.
